SALTY DOG is a 2 bedroom 2 bath oceanfront home located just north of Gold Beach in Rogue Shores a small oceanfront community of about 30 homes 1 MILE WEST of the Highway 101 and away from traffic. Gold Beach is located about 30 miles north of the Oregon/California border on the world famous ROGUE RIVER. This open plan 2 bedroom home has all wood floors with a full west side glass wall and panoramic views of the coastline and ocean. The main floor is the second floor with the living room with wood burning fireplace, dining room, full bath and kitchen and full laundry. The bedroom has a queen bed and a twin. There is a futon in the living room. The third floor is the master bedroom with a king bed and seating area and a bath. The house has WIFI, full cable TV, a large west side deck and a HOT TUB under the trees. There is a 2 car garage. We have our own path to the beach about 100 feet west of the home. The lights of Port Orford are visible at night to the north west and you can see the Cape Blanco lighthouse flash every 20 seconds. There are many Harbor seals, Sea Lions, sea otters and sea birds off shore and grey whales can be seen years round. Look for agates (semi precious stones) shells, driftwood and other interesting items or you can just enjoy a nearly empty beach and watch the waves and sunsets.

The first floor has the garage, laundry and a ping pong table, BBQ and fireplace wood storage. We have 1 neighbor about 100 feet to the north and our Beach Comber house 200 feet south. The area is a small community of about 25 homes on a dead end road and sits 1 mile WEST of the 101 Coastal Highway. Gold Beach is 1 mile to the south on the Rogue River with shops, grocery stores and restaurants. There are 7 wild and scenic rivers on this part of the coast for almost unlimited fishing and recreational possibilities. Fishing charters for rivers and ocean, surfing (with wet suits) clamming, crabbing, seal and bird watching or just some beach combing for semi precious stones called Agates or great driftwood pieces for you home decorations. All this is at your door or just a few minutes away. If golfing is more your speed we have Cedar Bend a private course open to all a few miles north, Salmon Run 25 miles south. the great Bandon Dunes 5 Golf Courses 50 minutes north and 5 other courses all within a 1 hour drive. if you need some Casino time Lucky 7 and Elk Valley are under 1 hour south and Coos Bay 1.5 hours north with the The Mill and Three Rivers. For the lighthouse crowd Cape Blanco a working lighthouse is open in Port Orford and the Coquille light house in Bandon or St George south of Brookings. Hiking in old growth forests areas is available 14 miles up the Rogue River and the mountains here are about 2 minutes east of the house. Bike riding paths from tame to intense and here and if all you want to do is just sit and look, we have a whole lot of space for that. Our beaches are uncrowded and we always say that if someone gets within 1/2 mile of you it's time to look for a new less crowded beach.

Wild Coast Lookout, perched on the shoulder of a ancient sea stack, offers privacy and a dramatic view of the Oregon coast. Hawks and owls are frequently sighted in the trees on the property, and at night, as you soak in the hot tub, you will be treated to the sound of ocean waves and a chorus of frogs in the estuary below. The Lookout is located within just a few minute's walk of Turtle Rock beach, and a short drive to some of the most spectacular beachcombing shores of the Pacific Northwest. Wild Coast Lookout offers a very private setting with ocean and mountain views. Perched on the shoulder of an ancient volcanic sea stack, about 60-feet above sea level and with a steep drop-off on three sides of the property, it feels like you are on your own little island. At the same time, it is a very convenient 5-minute drive to Gold Beach for dining and other services you might need. Wild Coast Lookout is located on a slope above Turtle Rock Beach, just a couple miles south of downtown Gold Beach. The few homes on the hill are mostly far apart and separated by forest. The nearest neighbor is a small cottage next door, but they cannot see the Lookout's hot tub, sun deck or lawn. To the west is a dramatic view of the coast. Several species of wildlife are frequently sighted on the property, including deer, racoons, hawks, owls, quail and hummingbirds. On most nights you will be lulled to sleep by the sound of ocean waves and frogs singing in the estuary and pastures below. Guests have exclusive access to all areas of the 1-acre property, including a large private hot tub with ocean view, outdoor shower, sun deck, lawn and terrased gardens.
